Coheed and Cambria – Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV 01.31.06

I downloaded this because they had one good song I heard on a video game once. The entire album is actually very impressive. The lead sing sounds alot like Geddy Lee from Rush, but the overall music style has kind of a “Dave Matthews bought and electric guitar” type feel. Good work.
Has music downloading improved the music business? 01.31.06

I’ll admit it, I download music. I pay for some of it, but there has been an occasional “file swap” here or there. Nothing I would classify as a jailable offense, but the RIAA may feel different. Anyway, I have been downloading and listening to alot of “Complete” albums lately instead of just downloading the popular song from the album that is played on the readio. In soing so I have have figured out that they are just plain better these days than they have been in the past. I think that the music downloading that the internet has made possible has actually improved the music business. Since consumers are no longer forced to buy an entire album from an artist, the artist is forced to write, record and produce a better quality product than before.
I’m sure you can all remember back in the day when and artist would put out a new song over the air waves. You would rush out to buy the album, only to find out that there is a reason that song is on the radio. It is the only one worth listening to on the album. But the musician didnt care. You had to buy the entire CD to get that song. Now the advantage is to the consumer. With websites like Napster and Yahoo where you can purchase a single song for .99 cents, these musicians are having to produce a much higher end product so that the consumer will purchase more than one track in order to facilitate their survival in the business. Not to mention that they must put on a pretty good show when they are in town in order to capture dollars from those users who download the music on a “Trial” basis.

I bet more Americans can tell you who won the Golden Globe Awards this week than can tell you what was in Osama’s latest threat.
God Hates New Orleans 01.17.06

First off, let me preface this post by saying if you have access to Let’s Get it On by Marvin Gaye, please put it in the cd player now. Because, I think it would make this post that much more meaningful, if you had that going has background music, ok proceed….
It’s funny how the media portrays things. Here is a perfect example. Yesterday in a speech made by the Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin says, and I am quoting him…
“God is mad at America, in part because he does not approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. He is sending hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it is destroying and putting stress on this country. God is upset at black America also. We are not taking care of ourselves. We are not taking care of our women.”
Nagin went on brilliantly to discuss how he is going to improve things….
“New Orleans was a chocolate city before Katrina. It is going to be a chocolate city after. I don’t care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day. This city will be a majority African-American city. It’s the way God wants it to be.”
Now those are direct quotes from an elected official. Now lets here how the media actually protrayed this poetic showering of words.
ABC News Reports Nagin as saying…
“New Orleans, which before the storm was two-thirds black, cannot be allowed to change significantly in the rebuilding process, I’m focused on rebuilding one New Orleans for everyone,” Nagin said.
What’s Up With That? No Chocoloate? No Sweets of Any Kind Mentioned? Not even a little hint of Mocha Latte? Im disappointed.
But of course the media is not going to tell you the truth. That Ray Nagin is incompetent. That he has no business being behind a microphone. If the media portrayed Ray Nagin as anything other than a public idiot hero, it would show that George Bush was right. And we know that aint gonna happen. “George..Sit down and eat yo’ M&Ms.”
But hey, there is a bright side. We all like chocolate. Dont act like you dont fancy a little Hershey’s every now and then. I see you smilin’, Aw Yeah….CHOCOLATE!
Ray Nagin, was first elected in 2002, had been due to come up for re-election next month. However, state officials postponed the city election until April because of the disruptions caused by God and Katrina. Hopefully the citizens of New Orleans, you know they ones who actually need the help, hopefully they will be able to satisfy their sweet tooth before this idiot’s re election campaign begins.

You might think that the late 80’s/early 90’s electrically generated music sound may still work for some people, but….EH, Not So Much. I think I could really only find one song on this album worth listening to.
Welcome to Atlanta Where the Playa’s Play 01.13.06

Have you ever wondered what it costs to “Brand” a city.
$15 million dollars! Hell we livin’ like rap stars so we sho nuff needs to spend like em too. Bling Bling.
Atlanta is spending $15 million dollars to brand itself. $8 million of which was spent on a song that any teenager with a Mac and five minutes spare time could do. Our citiy’s leaders want to define Atlanta for tourists. Here’s a defining catch phrase for you:
“You think LA traffic sucks? When you think traffic jams, think Atlanta. Boom, Cha Cha Cha”
When all is said and done it is estimated that Atlanta will end up with well over $23 million dollars of debt of which the majority will be paid by tax payers who already live here and do not care to see any additional people in this town. We already have more than double of which our roads were designed for. Way to go Shirley Franklin. I hope you and ex-mayor Bill Campbell are able to spend the money you have stolen from the city in our new branded tourist hot spot. Just cause I care and I want you to have more money for your corrupt pockets, i’m going to give you a few “slogans” for free.
Los Angeles – “The City of Angels”. That’s good, but that aint worth no $8 million, how about this: Atlanta – “Little Mexico”
Las Vegas – “What Happens Here Stays Here”. Also a good one but Vegas has tons of money to spend on slogans, we can do better: Atlanta – “What Comes Here, Stays Here.”
Miami – “Gateway to the Americas”. Not bad but we can build on that.
Atlanta – “After Leaving Miami, Bring Your F-150 and Lawnmowers Here.”
So you see, it doesnt really have to cost an arm and a leg to brand a city. But with Mayor Shirley Franklin at the helm, she will sure as hell try to run those bills up. I’ve got an idea. How about we BRAND Shirley Franklin with the word “Idiot” on her forehead. Good luck ATL.

We recently took a family trip to the new Georgia Aquarium. Its currently the largest aquarium in the United States world. I’ve been to aquariums before and yeah, i’ve been real impressed by the set up that they have, but this time was better. It’s much more enjoyable when you view it through the eyes of your child. Here are the pictures

As long as they meet MillenniumMusic.com’s criteria, you can trade in your used CDs for an iPod. The more you trade in, the better version you get – up to 60 GB.

It reminds me alot of the good old “grundge” days with Soundgarden. If you liked Soundgarden back in the day and miss that hard edged style that was lost when Chris Cornell broke up the band and started Audioslave, you will love this album.
Great stuff from some Georgia boys
